Originally, Villa Le Fontanelle was not more than a small farmhouse owned by the Medici family. Later it was several times at the center of Florentine and Italian history, primarily with Marsilio Ficino who here dedicated himself to the translation of the Platonic Codes. It was inhabited and renovated several times by different families, but it was John F. Slone who gave the villa and park its current appearance.
